Ajato

Ajato is a CMS (Content Management System) that uses Lua as the primary script language. It helps people to manage a whole site, controlling the users and the content creation.

With the free modules and themes, you can transform Ajato into virtually all types of sites, from wikis, blogs, forums or e-commerce store. Or everything of it at once! You wont need a separate system to each of these features.

Ajato has some unique features, which is the reason thats so easy to use and expand it:

Origin

Its highly inspired by Drupal CMS, and currently Ajato is not much more than an port of Drupal to Lua/Kepler. Lua is considered one of the best scripting languages on the planet. And its not a coincidence that is the the number 1 choice on the game industry, where speed is a must. Its the choice over Java of C to be easier to learn and master with a equivalent speed.

The union of the best CMS and best scripting language is Ajato. Ajato aim not to be a simple Drupal clone. Once the basic system get done, Ajato will follow a different project target.

Is was created by Bruno Massa in September 2007, as a hobby and is just an "excuse" to study and learn more about Lua and about Drupal.

Ajato Name and Logo

Ajato, in Brazilian Portuguese, means something like "by jet", like "plane by jet" or "jet plane". So it has the idea of speed. Speed, of course, is a reference to Lua scripting language, which is very fast. Also, its very unique name for almost all languages.
